Aether catalysts are an item dropped by Yama, The Leviathan, the Abyssal Sire and the Doom of Mokhaiotl, which are used to create aether runes, a combination of cosmic and soul runes.
Crafting aether runes requires level 90 Runecraft. As the true Soul Altar and soul talisman are not accessible to the player, the Cosmic Altar, soul runes, and the Magic Imbue spell must be used.
One aether catalyst is required for each aether rune crafted; this means that using Raiments of the Eye and scarred extracts to increase the yield of aether runes will still require one catalyst per rune.
