The Ourania Cave is a dungeon that houses the Ourania Altar, which is the cave's main point of interest. The cave is found north of the Grave of Scorpius (west of the Battlefield and south of West Ardougne). The fastest way to get there is via the Ourania Teleport spell on the Lunar Spellbook which requires level 71 Magic, or by using the Ourania teleport tablet, both of which require completion of the Lunar Diplomacy quest. The next two fastest way is to use a ring of dueling to teleport to Castle Wars and run north or an Ardougne cloak to teleport to Ardougne monastery and run west.

The cave is currently controlled by the Zamorak Magical Institute (or ZMI). The ZMI have invaded the cave and taken over the short route to the altar, which they aggressively guard against anyone else.

Just inside the cave, players can speak to Eniola to access their bank at the cost of 20 runes (of any type) per use. Players can also set up a quick-deal payment with Eniola to pay 20 of a chosen rune to instantly use the bank.

The Ourania runic altar found in this cave has the power to turn pure or daeyalt essence into any type of rune (except combination runes and wrath runes). Each essence used grants 1.7 times the normal amount of experience that would have been gained by using any other runic altar. As a result, this dungeon is a popular place for runecrafters to gain experience.

Players are not allowed to trade pure essence, noted or unnoted, to other players while in the Ourania Cave. Attempting to do so gives the message, You can't trade this item here. Players are also not able to pick up pure essence that is dropped by another player or dropped by a monster killed by another player while in the Ourania Cave, and attempting to do so gives the message, You can't take that - it doesn't seem to be yours. This change was done as players were able to obtain up to four times the polled experience rates through the use of runner accounts who would ferry essence to and from their bank.
