Warmth is a game mechanic currently only found within the Wintertodt prison. The warmth meter, visible on the HUD at the top left of the player's game client, acts as the player's health when inside the prison. Dropping to 0% warmth will cause instant death.

Throughout the fight, the player will take intermittent damage to their warmth as the cold of the Wintertodt begins to seep into their bones. This passive damage is scaled based on each player's levels; the formula takes into account Firemaking level as well as the number of braziers that are currently lit.

Players can restore their warmth by eating any type of food that heals at least 4 Hitpoints, which will restore 35% warmth (or 70% warmth for foods eaten in two bites, such as Hunter meat). Drinking a dose of rejuvenation potion restores 30% warmth, making them an ideal options, since they can easily be made inside the prison, and are also used to heal the pyromancers whenever they are damaged or incapacitated. If Druidic Ritual has not been completed, Brew'ma can combine the ingredients on the player's behalf.

Players will also naturally regenerate 8% warmth per minute, with an additional 1% regenerated for each piece of warm clothing worn (up to 4). Various health regeneration methods, such as Hitpoints-regenerating items, Rapid Heal, and Heal Other, will further aid warmth regeneration. A ring of life will activate if warmth drops below 10%, and a Phoenix Necklace will also activate at 20% or less and restore the warmth meter.

Four warm items need to be equipped to receive the maximum damage-reduction; wearing more than 4 does not have any further beneficial effect. If the player is not wearing four pieces of warm clothing, they will receive the message "You feel the cold wind strike you as you enter; perhaps you should find some warmer clothes."

Warm clothing

Wearing warm or winter-themed equipment will reduce the damage taken. Four of these warm items need to be equipped to receive the maximum damage-reduction; wearing more than 4 does not have any further beneficial effect. If the player is not wearing four pieces of warm clothing, they will receive the message "You feel the cold wind strike you as you enter; perhaps you should find some warmer clothes.".

Most of these items were listed in a Dev Q&A with Mod Kieren on 6 October 2016. This list also includes items that were not listed during that Q&A, but were later verified to act as warm clothing.
