The Ritual Site in the north-western forest of The Stranglewood is the site where The Strangler was created. During the God Wars, a race of beings known as the Old Ones performed a ritual here in an attempt to preserve themselves by experimenting with soul transference.[1] Instead of immortality, however, they accidentally created a deadly parasite known as the Strangler,[2] which killed them.[3] Some time after, the parasite infected a Zarosian general named Vardorvis, which neutralized his vampyric immunities and causing him to get killed in battle and become reanimated by the parasite.[4][5]

Transportation

The site can be accessed by climbing over the rocks leading up to it. After entering the Ritual Site once, a shortcut becomes available on the pathway north-west of the temple, making Vardorvis much easier to reach.

The fastest way to reach Vardorvis is the teleport to The Stranglewood with the ring of shadows, although this must first be unlocked by receiving the strangled tablet as a drop. Fairy code BLS fairy ring and the Xeric's talisman teleport to Xeric's Honour are also close to the rowboat that connects the Kebos Lowlands to The Stranglewood. During Leagues, the League Navigator can transport players from Quetzacalli Gorge to the Stranglewood.

Many have claimed to be feeling strangely unwell, and one of the legionaries even started having visions. Of all things, he thought he saw the Carnifex Maximus' body move!"
