Arder powder is the result of using a pestle and mortar on an Arder mushroom, where between five and six powders are given per mushroom with the amount being tied to your Herblore level. The amount of powder produced is based on the equation , rounded down, and is capped between 1 and 6 powders. Due to the required 62 Herblore for Desert Treasure II, the only amounts players will normally see are 4, 5, and 6 powders. Six are mixed in the asylum's Fermentation Vat, alongside six Musca powder and six Salax salt, to create one Arder-musca poison, which are used to wake Duke Sucellus.

Arder powder can also be fed to Duke Sucellus to deal 5 damage to him, requiring 40 powder total to awaken the boss.
