The Ancient Vault is an old Zarosian structure found in the eastern coast of the Kharidian Desert. The vault door, likely built during the reign of the Zarosian Empire in the Second Age, is the only entrance.

The vault serves as the starting point for Desert Treasure II - The Fallen Empire. During the quest, it is revealed that the vault was holding the Elder Horn, which was brought there by Perseriya, admiral of the Zarosian fleet during the Third Age.

The vault had impressive security capabilities; the first door would only allow those with Ancient Magicks in, implying that only Zarosians were allowed into the vault. The entrance to the lower level was sealed by a trapdoor, which would not open unless the four statues lining the room - statues of The Forgotten Four, four high-ranking Zarosian personnel, were fitted with their respective medallion. As an additional safety measure, the vault was surrounded by magic powerful enough to repel Mahjarrat, preventing them from teleporting in to access its contents, forcing them to open it normally. Once access to the lower vault was made, this restriction would be removed.

After the quest, the vault can be visited again to speak with the Mysterious Bandit to buy additional rings of shadows. A chest can also be found here, which can be opened by using one of the ancient quartzes dropped by the Forgotten Four to receive one of five different common drops related to the boss.

The vault is just north-east of Nardah. The fastest teleport there is the ring of shadows or it can easily be reached by use of fairy rings (code DLQ) and then running south-east, as well as using a Nardah teleport scroll or the desert amulet 3 and then running north-east.
