Wizard Persten, of the Order of Wizards, is a wizard who is researching the Abyss. During the events of the Temple of the Eye quest, she accidentally reopens the rift in the Temple of the Eye and is sucked inside into The Scar, leaving her fate unknown. The Great Guardian is certain that she is dead while Archmage Sedridor believes that she could survive its dangers.

It is later discovered during Desert Treasure II - The Fallen Empire that she had survived within The Scar, and helps the player during the quest. Towards the end of the quest, it is revealed that Persten has actually been Sliske in disguise the entire time, with the real Persten likely having died some time before the events of Temple of the Eye.^[1] Sliske turned her into one of his wights, Persten the Deceitful.

• Wizard Persten's full name, Mia Persten,^[2] is an anagram of "I am serpent".
• She claims to have invented the Home Teleport spell.^[2]
