(broken)

(broken) is a suffix applied to items that must be repaired to be usable, though the method of repair varies.

The suffix is added to pieces of Eclipse moon armour, Blue moon armour, and Blood moon armour that have fully degraded. These can be repaired at an armour stand in a Player-owned house or at a repairing NPC such as Bob in Lumbridge. The cost to repair the item depends on where it is repaired and (if repaired at the armour stand) the player's Smithing level.

The suffix is also used to denote untradeable equipment that have broken upon death in PvP scenarios. These can be repaired for a cost by using the item on Perdu, Chris, or an armour stand located at a PvP hotspot in a PvP world. Note that high level breakable items which also have a lockable state will have different behaviour above level 20 Wilderness; instead of becoming (broken), these breakable items will become (mangled) if locked or will be permanently lost if not locked above level 20 Wilderness.

The dragon pickaxe (broken) is a reward from the Volcanic Mine, and can be repaired by bringing it and 2,500,000 coins to Nurmof in the Dwarven Mine,

The Imcando hammer (broken) can be found from smashing barronite deposit, and can be repaired with 1,250 barronite shards at Ramarno.

Items that do not become (broken) above level 20 Wilderness will be permanently lost if not protected in a PvP death. However, these items can be locked with a Trouver parchment to keep the items in a (mangled) state upon death, requiring 500,000 coins to repair instead of the (broken) fee.
