Torn clue scrolls are parts of the next clue scroll step during a master clue. Solving each part of a three-part master cryptic clue gives a torn clue scroll, which can be combined to continue the treasure trail.

Note for Ultimate Ironmen: When dying with a torn clue scroll, the pieces will drop to the ground. However, torn clue scrolls will be destroyed upon attempting to pick them up, and the player will receive the chatbox message "The torn clue scroll disintegrates".

Torn clue scrolls are always kept on death, whether protected or not, as it is an untradeable item. If not protected it will go to the gravestone. In the Wilderness a clue box can be brought if the player prefers an unprotected clue scroll to remain in their inventory upon death. Note that the box will always be lost.

In clue juggling, torn clue scrolls can only be juggled with another clue which also has 3 parts needed to solve it. Attempting to combine the clue scroll parts after swapping out the clue scroll in your inventory with a different master clue that only requires 1 action (e.g. a Falo the Bard clue) results in the parts being discarded, forcing the player to gather them again.
