The rabbit is a monster that is found in a cave in the Gwenith Hunter area north of Prifddinas. Despite its low combat level, it is extremely dangerous, possessing as much health as the Corporeal Beast and dealing high damage coupled with a high attack speed.[1] Unlike most monsters, the rabbit's Magic defence roll is calculated using its Defence level rather than its Magic level.[2]

When killed, it is guaranteed to drop a crystal grail. The rabbit also has a respawn time of 6 hours once killed. Damage dealt to the rabbit gives enhanced experience rates.

Thralls are not allowed inside the cave, making it effectively immune to thralls.

Strategy

Due to its massive health pool, ruby bolts (e) and ruby dragon bolts (e) are very effective against it. A practical strategy for killing the rabbit is kiting it around the room and shooting it while avoiding being in its melee range, similar to how Commander Zilyana is often killed.

Using defence-draining weapons such as dragon warhammer or Bandos godsword, or using a bone dagger or bone crossbow for the first hit can be somewhat beneficial; however, it appears to reset its stats upon leaving the room, so attempting to drain its stats to 0 similarly to the Corporeal Beast solo method is ineffective. An exception is the Eye of ayak special attack, whose magic defence draining special attack appears to persist on leaving the room.

The rabbit is immune to the effects of freezing spells like Ice Barrage. While freezing the rabbit visually freezes it for around a second, this is only a visual glitch.

Recoil damage does work on the rabbit, so using Vengeance will greatly speed up the kill. Bringing a charged ring of suffering or rings of recoil will also help.

The rabbit can alternatively be flinched via red-x and interface stalling. Red-x under the rabbit with a full inventory (with the exit or a dropped item) and open an interface such as the combat achievements to keep it in place. Beware that since the cave is not instanced, items can despawn quickly.

Trivia

  • The rabbit is a reference to the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, where King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table are quickly defeated by the unseeming "Rabbit of Caerbannog". This reference is strengthened by the fact that the rabbit always drops a grail.
  • Monster Examine and Monster Inspect cannot be cast on the Rabbit; when a player attempts this, they receive the message, A strange magic stops your spell from casting.
  • If this rabbit had a combat level based on its stats, as it is normally calculated, it would be level 872 combat.
