Rantz is an ogre who lives in a cave in the eastern part of Feldip Hills with his children, Fycie and Bugs. He is located at the only quest start icon in that area, and is first encountered during the Big Chompy Bird Hunting quest. After the quest, players can kill chompies to claim Rantz's feather hats.

In addition to Big Chompy Bird Hunting, where Rantz teachers players how to kill chompies, he is also encountered during Recipe for Disaster, where players must run an errand for him in order to learn how to catch jubblies. Players will also have to do a "small favour" for Rantz during the One Small Favour quest.

Rantz will give players the ogre bow during the Big Chompy Bird Hunting quest, and sells replacements for somewhere between 500 and 550 coins (the exact amount changes each time). Players must use a variation of the ogre bow to kill chompies.

Players who kill a set number of chompies (the minimum being 30, and the maximum being 4,000) will be able to obtain feather hats. You must have an ogre bow or comp ogre bow equipped or in your inventory to claim feather hats from Rantz.

Players are required to claim hats from him for all stages of the Western Provinces diary:

Players who have completed different tiers of the Western Provinces Diary can also talk to Rantz for a set amount of free ogre arrows per day, depending on the tier completed. Rantz does not grant additional arrows after completing a higher diary tier if the player claimed arrows earlier that day (the increase will apply to the next day).

Rantz is also used in various clues for Treasure Trails; the fastest way to reach him by using fairy ring code AKS.

• Rantz appears on one of the seven Postbag from the Hedge stamps.
• In the quest Freeing Skrach Uglogwee, it is revealed that he is the one responsible for gathering the ingredients for the Jiggig ogres to make Relicym's balms.
• His name is a play on the term "Rants", which is a way to describe criticism. This would pertain to the fact that Rantz is always criticising the player during Big Chompy Bird Hunting.
