Shadow pools appear during the fight against Yama when the contract of oathplate acquisition or contract of harmony acquisition is active. When stood on while not under the protection of a Glyph of Shadow, they will deal ~12-13 damage to the player.

They appear when Yama uses his Shadow Crash, on the position of the centre fireball after it lands, and persist for the rest of the fight. If one would spawn on a glyph, then instead it is placed on a random tile in a 7x7 radius of that glyph.
