Vampyres can be assigned as a Slayer task by various Slayer masters once the player has completed Priest in Peril and achieved at least level 35 combat. Mostly confined to the Morytania region, access to different variants of vampyres is usually tied to progression within the Myreque questline.

Prior to the Actual Vampyre Slayer unlock, vampyre tasks can only be assigned by Slayer masters Mazchna and Vannaka and only 10 to 20 will be assigned at a time.

Vampyres come in three different attribute tiers which determines their weaknesses to various vampyrebane weapons:

High-leveled players should not toggle vyre tasks on until they have completed Sins of the Father, where they may kill vyrewatch sentinels for their lucrative blood shard drop. Sentinels are permanently aggressive unless the player has worn a full set of vyre noble clothing, meaning they can be easily AFK'ed with little input by the player as they only use melee.

After the third fight against Lowerniel Drakan in The Blood Moon Rises, all vyres will become tolerant of the player. In order to toggle the sentinels' aggression back, they player must complete the quest and speak to the werewolf hired by Lord Mischa Myrmel (south of the Darkmeyer teleport on Drakan's medallion) to buy a garlic cocktail from him for 20 coins. Additionally, completion of the quest will unlock venators. They are harder than sentinels but have a superior along with a vastly improved drop rate on the blood shard.

Efaritay's aid is recommended for players who are willing to put some extra cost/time in, as the bonuses of the ring will stack alongside task bonuses. These will generally provide superior damage over other rings such as the ultor ring.
