The combat ring is an arena in the Shayzien Encampment. In the combat ring, the player may engage in melee duels with progressively higher tiers of soldiers to obtain pieces of Shayzien armour. Defeated soldiers will drop a piece of armour based on the tier they belong to. The player must obtain a complete set of armour from the preceding tier before they can challenge the next highest tier of soldier. In other words, the player must defeat the Soldier (tier 1) five times to earn a complete set of Shayzien armour (tier 1) before they can challenge the Soldier (tier 2). Soldiers will not drop duplicate armour pieces until after the player has obtained the complete set from that tier.
Deaths in the combat ring are considered unsafe deaths. If a piece of armour is lost or destroyed prior to obtaining a full set of the next highest tier, the player will be required to defeat the previous tier of soldier again to reobtain a full set. Any armour pieces stored in the player's bank or player-owned house will count toward the challenge requirements in the combat ring.
Duels are initiated by talking to the soldier that the player intends to challenge. It is possible to run away from the combat area during the fight to end the duel.
Requirements
Participation in the combat ring requires level 20 Defence.
Transportation
There are several methods to quickly reach the Shayzien combat ring:
- Lovakengj Minecart Network — The Shayzien East station is east of the combat ring.
- Fairy rings — The DJR fairy ring (Great Kourend: Chasm of Fire) is West of the combat ring.
- Kharedst's memoirs or Book of the dead — The History and hearsay teleport will place the player south-west of the combat ring (requires completion of Tale of the Righteous).
Soldiers
There are five tiers of soldiers that can be challenged at the combat ring. To obtain a complete set of armour, the player must defeat each tier of soldier a total of five times.
