Ahrim the Blighted's equipment

Ahrim the Blighted's equipment is obtainable from the Barrows minigame. A full set consists of Ahrim's robetop, robeskirt, hood, and staff. The set requires 70 Magic and 70 Defence to wear, and 70 Attack to use the staff. Ahrim's robes give Melee Defence bonuses that Magic robes normally don't have, which makes it somewhat popular for PvP situations. The staff is able to autocast spells from the standard spellbook, Arceuus spellbook or from the Ancient Magicks spellbook when a full set is equipped with an Amulet of the damned. The staff is commonly used when facing elemental weaknesses as it allows the use of elemental tomes and is the most accessible one-handed staff with magic damage before the Dragon hunter wand and Purging staff. In such scenarios the set effect specific to the Amulet of the damned can be particularly useful. It can however be in competition with the Elite Void Knight equipment when not using Chaos gauntlets or Tormented bracelet and does not allow the use of a Slayer helmet (i). The equipment degrades over a period of 15 hours of combat, similar to other Barrows equipment.
Ahrim's set offers some of the best Magic bonuses available and is normally recommended for fighting various high level monsters. It is one of the few sets of magical robes that give Defence bonuses against things other than Magic. This is further reinforced by the fact that the robes look like a combination of chainmail and robes. Like chainmail, it is strong against crush attacks; however, more like dragonhide, it is weak to slash and strong against stab. Ahrim's armour provides no Ranged protection. It is also noticeably heavier than other Magic armour; the full set weighs approximately 19 kg, with the top and bottom alone weighing 4.5 and 11.3. This makes it less practical for activities where lots of running is required, such as Chambers of Xeric.
The hood, robetop, and robeskirt each give a 1% Magic damage bonus for a total of 3%.
Set effect
Blighted Aura: Magic attacks have a 25% chance of lowering the enemy's Strength by five levels repeatedly. The set effect does not activate if a spell splashes.
When Ahrim's set and the Amulet of the damned are equipped, Ahrim's staff gains the ability to autocast Ancient Magicks. Additionally, the wearer gains a 25% chance for combat spells to deal 30% additional damage.

Degradation
Barrows equipment degrades as it is used. Equipment received from the Barrows reward chest is fully repaired and can be used for 15 hours of combat until it degrades completely and requires repair before it can be used again. Barrows armour degrades even if the player is using protection prayers or not taking damage. Barrows equipment does not suffer in performance as it degrades from fully repaired to fully degraded. Fully repaired Barrows items start out with no numbers in their names, e.g. Ahrim the Blighted's equipment. It will become Ahrim the Blighted's equipment 100 the first time it's used in combat. Eventually it will degrade to Ahrim the Blighted's equipment 75, then 50, then 25 and finally 0 at which point the equipment will be unusable until repaired. Additionally, Barrows equipment may only be traded if fully repaired or fully degraded.
When dropped or lost on dangerous PvP death, any piece of Barrows equipment will automatically degrade to 0. Players who attempt to drop Barrows equipment will receive a warning message about this. As a bank note, dropping will not break the equipment.
There are two ways to repair Barrows equipment. Players can talk to any of the NPCs listed below and they will repair the items for a price, or repair the pieces themselves using an armour stand in any player-owned house. The equipment can be repaired at any stage, and the cost will be adjusted according to how much it has degraded. The repair costs below are as if the equipment has fully degraded.
The following NPCs can repair the equipment:
- Bob - the axe seller in Lumbridge
- Tindel Marchant - the weapon and armour repairman at Port Khazard
- Dunstan - the smith in Burthorpe
- Squire - in the workshop area of the Void Knights' Outpost
- Aneirin - the armour seller in Prifddinas
- Blacksmith - the blacksmith of Civitas illa Fortis
It costs less to repair Barrows equipment at an armour stand compared to paying an NPC. Stat boosts do affect the price of repair. The formula used to calculate the cost at a repair stand is:
A player with a Smithing level of 60, for instance, would pay 70% of normal cost:
Simply put, every 2 Smithing levels reduces the repair cost by 1% when compared to an NPC vendor. At level 99 this equals roughly 50% in savings.
