The gas mask is a quest item used in Plague City and Biohazard. It is made by giving dwellberries to Alrena in East Ardougne. The mask is required to be worn to enter West Ardougne before completion of Biohazard. Gas masks are also dropped by the mourners who are present in Mourning's End Part I.

Gas masks serve as a way to protect player from damage in the Smokey Dungeon and Smoke Devil Dungeon. The mask also reduces damage from the clouds whilst sulphur mining in Lovakengj, and prevents infection from Nex's virus attack, which makes them useful even after their intended quest use.

Duplicates can be drop tricked by searching the cupboard on the ground floor of Edmond's house to obtain another. This is only possible when the original mask was created by Alrena for the first time. Additional sets of Dwellberries are not required. Wearing a gas mask is no longer required while in West Ardougne after completing Biohazard.

If you've completed Song of the Elves, you can find this mask in a closed chest in the basement of the Mourner headquarters.

This item can be stored in the armour case of a costume room, as part of the Mourner gear set. Ultimate Ironmen will be unable to retrieve individual pieces until the full set is stored.
