An uncut onyx is the second rarest gem in Old School RuneScape, behind zenyte. It can be cut with a chisel at level 67 Crafting, granting 167.5 experience. This makes a cut onyx, which can be used to make very powerful jewellery. The cut onyx can also be used with a zenyte shard to create an uncut zenyte.
It can be purchased from TzHaar-Hur-Lek's Ore and Gem Store for 300,000 Tokkul (or 260,000 with any pair of Karamja gloves). Purchasing an uncut onyx does not register as a drop for the collection log. A common method to obtain this Tokkul as an ironman involves selling chaos runes to TzHaar-Mej-Roh's Rune Store; assuming a fully overstocked shop, this requires 28,889 chaos runes or 14,445 death runes with Karamja gloves.
There is also an extremely small chance of getting it from a bag full of gems. Each bag has 40 gems with each individual one having a 1/100,000,000 chance of being an onyx, making the chance per bag approximately 1/2,500,000.[1]
