The Jormungand

The Jormungand is a massive basilisk and the final boss of The Fremennik Exiles. After being subdued by V many years ago, he is reawakened by Bakuna, one of his basilisk knight generals.

The Jormungand's basic attack styles are Melee and Magic. As with regular basilisks, a mirror shield or V's shield is required. Protect from Magic should be used during the fight; he can still hit through prayer, but the damage will be heavily reduced. He also has two special attacks:

Gaze/Glare Attack

The player must turn away from The Jormungand or take large amounts of damage (50+) and drain your stats. This attack functions similarly to Vanstrom Klause's Stare into darkness! attack.

During this attack:

• The screen will be tinted red.
• The Jormungand gazes upon you! will appear in the game chatbox.
• Brundt will yell either Turn away [Fremennik name]!, Don't look into his eyes!, Don't look at him [Fremennik name]!, or [Fremennik name]! Do not face him!.

Bind/Entomb Attack

The player will be unable to move and must repeatedly click to break free. Clicking anywhere will cause the player to struggle, and after 5 attempts they will break free. This attack functions similarly to Hespori's bind attack. Failing to break free can result in taking 50+ damage.

During this attack:

• The Jormungand will fire a slow-moving, stone-like projectile.
• The Jormungand entombs you in stone! will appear in the game chatbox.
• Brundt will yell either The stone is weak! You can break it!, Try to break free [Fremennik name]!, [Fremennik name]! You need to break loose!, or You can free yourself [Fremennik name]!.

Should the player die during this fight, they can reclaim their items from Brundt the Chieftain on the Island of Stone for 50,000 coins.

• According to Fremennik prophecy, the End of Things is said to begin when the Serpent King (The Jormungand) is freed, which happens during the events of The Fremennik Exiles.
• In Norse mythology, Jörmungandr (meaning "huge monster") also known as the Midgard Serpent is a giant sea serpent which may initiate an apocalypse known as Ragnarök.
• Unlike other basilisks, the Jormungand does not appear to have any limbs, only a massive serpentine body.
