The lockbox is a locked chest found on Anglers' Retreat, which requires level 51 Sailing to dock at.
Attempting to open it without the corresponding small key will give the player a set of directions instead, giving players a hint to the location of the small key needed to unlock the lockbox: On the Onyx Crest, dig where lots of gold is close, but your gems are closer.
The small key can be obtained even if the player never obtained the lockbox directions; upon opening the lockbox with the small key, players are given the gale catcher schematic.
