Equipment

Wearing certain equipment grants benefits to pickpocketing.

  • The Rogue equipment grants a chance of getting double loot when pickpocketing NPCs. Wearing the full set guarantees double loot. It does not increase pickpocket success rate.
  • The Gloves of silence increase pickpocket success rate by 5%. They degrade but can be repaired. Requires Hunter level 54 to wear. Players may choose to forgo using the gloves, as wearing the full rogue set guarantees double rewards instead.
  • The Dodgy necklace provides a 25% chance to avoid being stunned and taking damage when failing a pickpocket. Each necklace has 10 charges.
  • The Thieving cape (and by extension, the Max cape) provides an additional 10% chance of success when pickpocketing NPCs.
  • Wearing parts of the H.A.M. outfit makes players less likely to be kicked out of the H.A.M. Hideout when failing to pick the pockets of H.A.M. members. This does not increase pickpocket success rates.
  • Completing the Ardougne Hard Diary gives 10% increased chance of successfully pickpocketing anywhere around Gielinor.

Setups

Main article: Sorceress's Garden. This is an active method.

Requirements

  • Level 1 Thieving is required for the lowest level Sq'irk.
  • Very large number of fellow thieves running together.

Gameplay

  • It is possible to get into the gardens by using Thieving boosts, such as those from the juices themselves.
  • The elementals can only 'see' and teleport the player when there are two or fewer squares between them and the player.
  • Doing Sorceress's Garden in masses is not popular anymore so it is usually not possible to find a world where there are enough players to do this.

In worlds with many players running at the same time, the chance that any one player is individually caught is very low, which allows them to almost always reach the sq'irk tree with minimal clicks and attention. This strategy works on any of the four gardens, however it requires very large amounts of players to work. As such, the lower level gardens will generally only work during peak times, with the summer garden being populated enough more often.

Compared with the One-click Summer Garden Method, mass worlds offer the benefit of not requiring the complex set-up, but its viability depends on having a very large number of fellow thieves running together. To execute this method, you must find a world in which there are a lot of players, this can be difficult as there are no official worlds for the activity. When inside the garden, click on the tree. Due to the large amount of players, you will normally not get caught.

Main article: Port Roberts Marketplace thieving. This is a casual, borderline AFK method.

Requirements

Marketplace thieving

  • Assuming a guard has just left a stall, a stall can be thieved 4 times before a guard will be looking at the stall again. In this time, another stall can be moved to and thieved 2 times. If thieving from the cannonball stall 4 times and from the ore stall 2 times without any tick loss.
  • In the jail, players can picklock the gate to leave, or bribe the guard who will ask for up to 500 coins. You can use the Sailors' amulet to avoid picking the lock or using coins.
  • The Rogue equipment set effect does not work for stalls.
  • Not all stalls gives the same chance to get Rocky pet. Please refer to: Rocky Drop rates

Requirements

  • At least level 21 Thieving is necessary to start the game. Every ten levels thereafter will grant entrance to the more valuable rooms, up to level 91. Note that these levels cannot be boosted.
  • Players must have started Icthlarin's Little Helper for access to Sophanem.

Gameplay

Room Overview: Spear Trap: Disarm first; deals 1–4 damage on fail, grants 10 Thieving XP. Containers: Grant artefacts and XP; rewards depend on the room.

  • Golden Chest: Always one-click open. Rare chance for Pharaoh's sceptre. Trap may deal 1–4 damage and spawn a level 98 scarab swarm (25 HP, 1 damage per 0.6s, can poison). Artefact is still obtained, but no Thieving XP if swarm appears.
  • Sarcophagus: Optional (ignore if going for Rocky pet). Opens using Strength, grants Strength XP. Rarely spawns a level 84 Mummy, hitting up to 6 damage. Scarab swarms don’t interrupt opening.
  • Tomb Doors: Four per room; only one leads forward. Failing has no penalty. Lockpick increases success chance but halves XP. Correct doors are consistent per room but reset when a new player enters room 1. After three failed attempts, the fourth door always works.
You can leave the game earlier via an exit door or any teleport.
