Doom Racer is a grandmaster combat achievement which requires the player to defeat the Doom of Mokhaiotl at delve levels 1 through 8 in less than 7 minutes and 15 seconds.
Strategy
The player must deal a total of 4,850 damage to the Doom, which can be rather daunting and is nearly impossible to complete under normal circumstances.
Fortunately, there are some strategies that can be used to save time, though this comes at the cost of less supplies to recover from mistakes:
- Pre-potting a super strength potion and trying to pray Piety for melee punishes
- Minimising tick loss during melee punishes by immediately attempting to melee the Doom whenever it does its rock throwing animation, as the melee punish is always accompanied by a rock throw
- 3-ticking attacks by attacking the Doom, then immediately attacking larvae with a 2-tick weapon (e.g. toxic blowpipe) to reset the attack cooldown
- This will still work even if the larvae is praying range
- Intentionally letting the Doom charge to full during shield phase and tanking the beam at delve levels 3-5 (dealing 60 damage at delve level 3 and 80 damage at levels 4 and 5)
- While possible to do so at delve level 6 and above, this requires the player to overheal beyond 99 Hitpoints; if choosing to tank these beams, phoenix necklaces should be used, some pieces of high-healing food (e.g. cooked moonlight antelope) may also be brought to eat if uncomfortable with being at low health after the beam
- Note that this beam attack does not proc Vengeance
- Waiting at the end of every wave to use Death Charge, as the achievement's timer is paused between waves
