The Digsite workmen can be found in and around the Digsite, as well as carrying rocks to the Varrock Museum. They can also be pickpocketed, giving 10.4 Thieving experience if successful.

They play an important role in The Dig Site quest as one may steal an animal skull from them. Also, players who come to work at the Digsite without the necessary tools can pickpocket the workmen and eventually gain most of the items needed, although this can take some time.

Notable about these workmen is that pickpocketing takes roughly twice as long to execute, compared to other pickpocketable NPCs. Interestingly, workmen give coins when pickpocketed, instead of coin pouches.

Trivia

  • A worker will exclaim Oi! What do you think you're doing? There's fragile specimens around here! when digging with a standard spade in soil.
  • Using a trowel on a level 2 dig will cause a worker to tell the player to use a rock pick instead.
  • Using a rock pick on a level 1 or level 3 dig area will cause a worker to tell the player to use rock picks on level 2 digs only.
  • Using a specimen brush on soil will cause a worker to laugh at the player and tell them to clean the specimens, not the dirt.
  • Trying to dig at a level 1 dig area without leather gloves will cause a worker to stop them.
  • Trying to search a specimen tray without a specimen jar will cause a worker to ask the player where their jar is.
