Demon tears are items used to charge the Eye of Ayak as an alternative to runes, or as part of the materials required to create the avernic treads and confliction gauntlets.

They are primarily obtained as drops from the Doom of Mokhaiotl. Alternatively, they can also be obtained by chopping infected roots in the Ruins of Mokhaiotl with 80 Woodcutting, providing a non-combat method of acquisition similar to that of Zulrah's scales from sacred eels. The Eye of Ayak can also be dismantled for 10,000 demon tears.

It takes 22,000 demon tears to fully upgrade both the Avernic treads (12,000 tears), including its base components, and craft the Confliction gauntlets (10,000 tears).
