The altar is a Zarosian altar that is found at the bottom of the Ancient Pyramid during Desert Treasure I. Praying at the altar will drain all Prayer points, but allows the player to swap between Ancient Magicks and the standard spellbook. Although all Prayer points are drained when using the altar, the player does not need to have any in order to use it.

Using the altar to switch to Ancient Magicks from another spellbook will display the message You feel a strange wisdom fill your mind.... Using the altar while already on the Ancient Magicks spellbook will display the message You feel a strange drain upon your memory... and switch the player to the standard spellbook.

After the completion of Desert Treasure I, players can use the shortcut from the south side of the pyramid to directly access the altar.
