The ancient altar is an altar dedicated to Zaros found in Nex's chamber within the Ancient Prison. It is one of five altars found in the God Wars Dungeon, the other four being the Armadyl, Saradomin, Bandos, and Zamorak altars.
Praying at the altar will fully restore Prayer. If the player is wearing a Zarosian item, it will also restore hitpoints, run energy, and special attack energy. In addition, it will give a +1 prayer point boost for every piece of equipment aligned to Zaros. This can be only be done every ten minutes.
The altar can also be used to teleport out of Nex's chamber, although it teleports players to the entrance of the safe room where Ashuelot Reis is found, so players will require the appropriate amount of ancient essence to enter again.
