The Undead ones play a critical part in the Shilo Village quest. Both skeletal and zombie undead ones are found in Ah Za Rhoon and Rashiliyia's Tomb, whereas the zombie undead ones are also found at the entrance to Shilo Village.

When the zombie variant is killed, they have the chance to release shilo mist that would damage the player for 2-3 Hitpoints per hit. However, it is not poisonous, so Antipoison is not required. The gas only affects characters in a one-square radius around where the undead one was when it was killed, so if players kill one, they have a few seconds to run to avoid taking damage.

Asking Mosol Rei "What danger is there around here?" will cause at least 1 undead one to spawn.

Prior to the completion of the Shilo Village quest, all damage dealt to undead ones is reduced by two, while the experience gained is still calculated based on the original (unreduced) damage value. Uniquely, it is therefore also possible to cause a zero damage hitsplat to appear when hitting an undead one with a spell, instead of resulting in a splash. This is achieved by succeeding the Magic accuracy roll, but rolling only one or two damage.
