Venators can be assigned as a Slayer task, exclusively by Mortimer once the player has completed The Blood Moon Rises. They can also be assigned indirectly by Mazchna and Vannaka, and with the Actual Vampyre Slayer unlock, Konar, Duradel, Nieve, Chaeldar, and Mortimer as well, as a vampyres task. Venators can only be found in Vampyrium, in the designated hunting grounds to the south of the entrance portal.

Venators are classified as tier 3 Vampyres, meaning they require the Ivandis flail as a minimum in order to damage them. Other superior weapons, such as blisterwood, the hallowed flail and sunspear will also work. Efaritay's aid is highly recommended for slaying venators, as it provides additional accuracy and damage that stacks on top of the slayer helm, meaning that attacks are much more accurate and stronger compared to using standard rings such as the treasonous or ultor rings. Each Efaritay's aid costs 1,981 and comes with 200 charges, meaning that each charge costs 9.9 coins, which is well worth the cost for most players.
