Dull ancient medals are an item commonly dropped by the Maggot King. When polished in Vampyrium, one of two messages will appear in the chatbox. If the message says The medal releases a trace of ancient magic as it falls apart., then 8 Prayer points will be restored every 6 ticks for 80 ticks (48s), for a total of 104 prayer points.

However, there is a 3/7 chance the message instead says The medal quivers with magic and breaks apart!, and in addition to the prayer restoration, the player's combat stats will be boosted, up to +20 in Attack, Strength, and Defence, +14 in Ranged, and +11 in Magic. This also inflicts 1 damage to the player. The boosted stats will remain for 4 minutes and 30 seconds, after which the boosted stats will begin to decay naturally.

When the prayer restoration effect ends, a chatbox message stating The prayer restoration blessing dissipates. will appear. For the combat boost, the effect ending is indicated by the message You feel the power start to diffuse.

As long as the player stays in Vampyrium, both effects will carry over upon death. However, they will end immediately upon leaving Vampyrium, either by teleporting or by using the portal at Castle Drakan.

This item is always lost upon death.

• Attempting to polish the medal outside of Vampyrium will display the message The medal falls apart as you polish it. and the medal will be destroyed. No effects will be granted when this occurs.
