Digging in is a master combat achievement which requires the player to kill the Maggot King without moving more than 40 tiles.

This achievement is best paired with Cordoned Off, as the strategies to complete them overlap.

As the player's movements for this achievement becomes more restricted, wearing a serpentine helm alongside an inoculation bracelet will help in dealing with the poisonous and sticky biles by minimising necessary movement and avoiding damage. Without a serpentine helmet, players should bring greater amounts of antipoison to offset the immunity drain.

During the boss' melee slams, the player may wish to only utilise melee punishes to attack the boss to avoid excessive movement. If using melee punishes to complete this achievement, consider taking the opportunity to complete King-sized clobbering alongside this achievement.

If attempting Cordoned Off simultaneously, the player must solely use melee punishes to attack the boss during its melee slams, as only melee punishes can be used from the back row of the playable area.

It is highly recommended to bring a standard ranged weapon in order to snipe the Ur-maggot larvae as usual maggot skipping techniques result in being forced to move, however this becomes less of an issue after the boss enters its final (melee) phase as it forces the player to constantly move regardless.
