Fountains are decorative scenery that can be found throughout Gielinor. Players may use various containers on them, such as buckets, vials, or waterskins in order to fill them with water. They are usually indicated on the map by a symbol.

While the vast majority of fountains have the common appearance, some towns and cities have different styled fountains. A unique golden fountain can be found in the Ratcatchers Mansion, that has an identical appearance to the Fountain of Heroes.

The fountains in Lumbridge do not function as a water source on PvP worlds. Attempting to use it to fill a water source displays the message This water source is not available on this world.

The fountain in Sangvesti does not function as a water source, using a vial on this fountain will display the message You try to fill your vial with blood but it spills all over the ground. This chat message references vials of blood.

• The model of fountain located near the Ancient Grave was originally located in Camelot within ScapeRune, but was removed when the prison random event was updated on 24 July 2007.
