Dondakan the Dwarf is a dwarven miner and the father of Commander Veldaban. He is the main character in the Between a Rock... quest.
Dondakan has spent 18 years of his life attempting to break open a seemingly impenetrable rock. While he had many dwarves helping him at one point, they have all since left, leaving him alone in his work. He now spends every bit of money he can dredge up in an attempt to open the rock. He has tried many different methods to break the rock, such hitting it with a pickaxe, shooting it with several types of cannonballs, and kicking it with granite boots. None have been successful, and the cost has taken a toll on him.
Once the quest is complete, he can fire players out of his cannon into Dondakan's mine, the largest known gold mine in Gielinor, although they must be wearing a gold helmet. Additionally, a ring of wealth teleport directly to Dondakan becomes available.

Trivia
- Dondakan has piles of many unobtainable types of cannonballs, including what appears to be bronze, mithril, adamantite, and runite cannonballs.
- In the March 2025 Sailing Alpha, 20 years after the release of this quest, unobtainable Bronze cannonball, Mithril cannonball, Adamant cannonball, and Rune cannonball were present in the cache and believed to be in development. This is proven to be correct as of the release of Sailing on 19 November 2025, for it is now possible to create them, and they are usable as ammo for various cannons on ships.
- If the 'perfect' gold bar is offered to Dondakan to make cannonballs from he states: "Perfect gold? That's much too valuable to be used to make cannonballs!"
- After the quest, players may attempt to buy his granite boots, but he will not sell them for any price offered. If players have granite boots equipped, they will be able to engage in unique dialogue when speaking to him.
