Dampen Magic is an overhead prayer from the Ruinous Powers prayer book, unlocked at level 67 Prayer. It can be used by selecting the Ruinous Powers relic in Trailblazer Reloaded League. or by purchasing the Ruinous powers book in Deadman: Annihilation.

Dampen Magic reduces 100% of incoming magic damage dealt by NPCs (40% for other players).

The prayer was originally available (as Deflect Magic) to use on a beta world as part of the DT2 Rewards Beta after having passed the relevant consultation poll, where players could playtest it in various content before a second poll was brought forward to ask players whether they'd like the prayers to be implemented in the live game as a reward from completing the quest Desert Treasure II - The Fallen Empire.

The prayer was changed to no longer increase non-magic damage taken by 10% (rounded down) for Deadman: Annihilation.

  • The prayer was renamed from "Deflect Magic" to "Dampen Magic".
  • The Prayer level required to activate the prayer has been increased from 65 to 67.
  • The prayer's description in-game has been changed. Previously, it was "Provides up to 90% protection from magic damage with a 50% chance to reflect 10% of the original damage back at the opponent."
  • The prayer's drain rate has been reduced from 30 points per minute to 24.

  • The prayer's description in-game has been changed. Previously, it was "Reduces Magic damage taken by 90%, 50% chance to deal 10% of pre-mitigated damage back to opponent."
  • The prayer icon was graphically updated.
