Barbed bolts are bronze bolts with barbed tips. Barbed bolts can be created through the Fletching skill at level 51, simply by using barb bolttips with bronze bolts. 30 barbed bolt tips can be obtained from the Ranging Guild Ticket Exchange in the Ranging Guild in exchange for 140 archery tickets. For each barbed bolt tip attached to a bronze bolt, a player is granted 9.5 Fletching experience.
Barbed bolts can be shot from any standard crossbow, including the regular or Phoenix crossbow, so they may be used at level 1 Ranged as a superior version of bronze bolts. However, they both do less damage and are more expensive than opal bolts (e), so their usage is inadvised. Additionally, Ironmen require level 40 Ranged to enter the guild and buy the bolt tips, at which point much stronger weapons are available.
