Retribution is an overhead Prayer unlocked at level 46 Prayer. In some cases of death, Retribution can inflict damage up to 25% of the user's Prayer level, rounded down, to nearby enemies. Retribution can still hit 0s, despite the change to successful hits.

If a player dies from another player that dealt the final blow with either the spell Vengeance or from a Ring of recoil, Retribution will not activate. This probably occurs with other forms of damage reflection (and probably in PVM as well), but beyond the special attack of Chaos Fanatic this has not been confirmed exhaustively.

If a player dies by Retribution damage while also having Retribution active, it will not trigger, eliminating the possibility of a chain reaction.

Retribution does not activate upon death from a failed pickpocket.

NPCs killed via Retribution will not award kill credit for Achievement Diary tasks requiring you to kill them. However, dealing most of the damage with Retribution and then dealing the last damage yourself will still award kill credit.

The maximum amount of damage dealt is based on a player's base prayer level. The formula is .
