Infernal shale deposits can be found at the north east section at bottom section of the Chasm of Fire. The location where they are mined can only be accessed after speaking to Yama and agreeing to sign his contract. They require 78 Mining to mine and when mined give infernal shale.
Two deposits are located close together in the mine, with only one of them being minable at a time. The minable deposit alternates regularly every 4.5 to 5 minutes.
Players can expect to receive 6k–9k Mining experience and 140–200 infernal shale per hour from these rocks. Unlike infernal shale rocks, mining infernal shale deposits cannot be sped up with Jim's wet cloth.

Mining an infernal shale may grant any of the following amounts of Mining experience:
Pre roll drops
The mining gem drop table has a 1/256 chance to roll on every mining attempt;[1] if the player is wearing a charged amulet of glory, amulet of glory (t), or amulet of eternal glory, the probability increases to 1/64.2.[2][3] If the table successfully rolls, the player may receive an uncut gem or nothing, and in either case can not receive an ore.[4] This neither depletes the rock nor grants Mining experience. The rates shown are for every mining attempt.
