A fishbowl is an item that can be created with level 42 Crafting or received as a drop from Mogres. It can be filled with water and then with seaweed. With a filled fishbowl in the inventory, a tiny net can be purchased from Harry in Catherby for 10 gold which can then be used to catch a fish in the aquarium to get a pet fish. This is one of the tasks in the Easy Kandarin Diary.

It is also used in the Recipe for Disaster quest, in which players make it into a fishbowl helmet. This is worn in the helm slot and allows the player to go diving near Port Khazard.

It is also used in the Rum Deal quest, in which players receive a Fishbowl and net, which can be dismantled into a Fishbowl and a Big fishing net in order to obtain a fishbowl without having to go obtain molten glass first, which can be convenient for ironmen.

Fishbowls are sometimes used to train Magic with the Lunar spell Humidify, which fills any container in the player's inventory with water. Because the left-click option for a water-filled fishbowl is to empty it, the spell can be repeatedly cast with ease.
