Facing Jad Head-on is an elite combat achievement which requires the player to complete the Fight Caves with only melee weapons equipped. Players are allowed to log out and back into the same world and still be eligible for the combat achievement, but hopping worlds is not allowed.

Strategy

Equipping a Ranged weapon, Magic weapon, or salamander will cause the task to fail regardless of whether or not they attack anything with it. This includes weapons that primarily have melee bonuses, but can also autocast spells, like the Lunar staff and blisterwood flail. However, manually casting spells with a melee weapon equipped will not fail the task. This means that casting Vengeance, casting blood spells, or summoning thralls with resurrection spells will not fail the task, as long as a melee weapon is equipped.

Using a halberd (preferably a noxious halberd) can make the challenge easier as it allows players to attack from two tiles away instead of one, preventing rangers and magers from attacking with melee.

The Keris partisan will fail this challenge.
