Cape hanger

The cape hanger can be built in the display space of the achievement gallery in a player-owned house. It requires 80 Construction to build, and—when built—it gives 800 Construction experience. The player must have a hammer and a saw in their inventory to build it.

Players can use the mythical cape, champion's cape, fire cape, infernal cape, capes obtained from Captain Rimor, or Capes of Accomplishment (including max cape variants) on the cape hanger to display it. Only one cape can be displayed at a time, and it can be retrieved and replaced with another cape at any time. The display can be admired, making the player perform the same animation as praying at an altar.

A player will need both the hood and the skillcape in order for it to be displayed. In addition, untrimmed skillcapes that are mounted on the cape hanger will become trimmed upon achieving level 99 in another skill.

The right-click perks of Capes of Accomplishment and the mythical cape can be used by the owner of the house, but not by visitors. This means, for example, that teleports to the Myths' Guild from a mythical cape or house portals from a Construction cape and searching the Fletching cape are only available to the house owner. Passive perks are not available for the owner of the house; for example, grimy herbs cannot be used on vials of water without having a Herblore cape equipped. The right-click perks of the following capes can be used while displayed on the cape hanger:

• Capes hung on the rack are noticeably brighter compared to those worn by players. This is due to the game's graphics having all characters being lit from the front, with the back of all characters appearing shadowed. This shadowing causes the darkening and desaturation of items on a player's back.
• Before an update on an unknown date, mounted max cape variants did not display the hood despite requiring the corresponding max hoods.
• The Ardougne max cape, Accumulator max cape, Assembler max cape and Masori assembler max cape are the only max cape variants with a right-click perk where the base item cannot be mounted. This effectively means that a max cape is required to gain the benefits of a mounted Ardougne cloak 4, specifically its teleport options.
• The Dizana's max cape still uses the old model of the cape.
