Burthorpe–Troll Country War

The Burthorpe–Troll Country War is a series of conflicts that occur between the Burthorpe Imperial Guard and the dangerous and aggressive mountain trolls of Death Plateau. It is of great importance for the Imperial Guard that Burthorpe, the last major settlement in Asgarnia with its own government, win the war in order to prove themselves. Otherwise the White Knights of Falador will take over the town, ending its semi-independence.^[1] The war consists mainly of small battles or invasions in and around the Burthorpe area.^[2][3][4]

The ongoing efforts of the Imperial Guard are lead by Commander Denulth while Crown Prince Anlaf remains in hiding.^[5]

In the year 162 of the Fifth Age, Prince Anlaf's father, King Vallance, fell ill to the point where he could no longer appear in public nor govern the kingdom. The White Knights took advantage of this and Sir Amik Varze became the de facto leader of Falador.^[6] The Kinshra, a Zamorakian military organisation in Asgarnia, was outlawed and a war erupted between the two, leading to the Battle of North Falador.

Money soon began to run low for the White Knights as campaigns against the Kinshra, such as the famous Dawn Ascent, required hefty funding. As such, the White Knights wished to stop funding the Burthorpe Imperial Guard and take control of Burthorpe themselves. However, the White Knights agreed to continue funding the Burthorpe Imperial Guard and allow them to maintain their independence if they were able to destroy the troll camp on Death Plateau.^[1] As such, the war has become a primary focus for Burthorpe.

The Imperial Guard have successfully managed to secure an underground cave that leads to a one of the cliffs of the Troll Country with the aid of an adventurer. From there, they can ambush any trolls heading for Burthorpe from Death Plateau, a major victory for Burthorpe.

After the Trolls were cut off from Death Plateau, the Imperial Guard attempted an attack on the the Troll Stronghold, but were defeated.. The Guard suffered an unknown number of casualties, and Godric was captured. An adventurer used Dunstan's advice to find a secret route to approach the Troll Stronghold, but had to defeat Dad in the Troll Arena and kill a troll general to get a key to rescue Godric.
