2025 Easter event

The 2025 Easter event, titled One glum bunny, was the Easter holiday event that took place from 16 April to 7 May.

The event could be started in Varrock outside the west bank. The holiday event icon () displayed the location of the event on the world map and minimap.

Talk to the concerned man just outside the Varrock west bank, who will inform you that the Easter Bunny has gone missing and that spoiled carrots litter the city. Investigate the curiously positioned crate of carrots and follow the trail of carrots leading south, investigating the various piles of suspicious carrot scraps along the way. The trail will lead you to a bush north-west of the Champions' Guild; kick the bush away and climb down the hole in order to enter the Rabbit Hole.

Inside the Rabbit Hole, walk down the corridor and speak to a dispirited Easter Bunny, who is relinquishing his duties because the spirit of Easter has left him. In order to cheer him up, you will need to perform three activities, which can be completed in any order.

Bowley Moley can be found in the north-eastern chamber of the Hole. When spoken to about how the Eastern Bunny is looking awfully glum, Bowley will agree to rig a bowling match in the Easter Bunny's favour. A brief cutscene will play of the player facing off against the Easter Bunny, with the machinery helping him land a strike, which cheers him up a bit.

At the bar in the south-western chamber, speak to Wheeler. She will suggest making the Easter Bunny some carrot juice, although the player suggests that some fancy carrots may make for a better drink than Wheeler's current offering. Ask Cooky Weasel in the kitchen to the east to give you three fancy carrots, which he will hand over after a little persuasion. Return to Wheeler, who will give you a special carrot juice glass.

You will now need to juice the fancy carrots into a lovely drink. Use the juice press in the storage room south of the bar in order to squish the carrots into a glass of fancy carrot juice. Give the Easter Bunny a taste of the fancy juice to brighten him up.

In the room with the bar, talk to the head egg priest Eggus Manus about helping the Easter Bunny. He will give you a recipe for making Easter buns. Read the rambling recipe to learn the four ingredients required to make them. These can be retrieved in any order:

• Talk to Wheeler behind the bar to obtain some Easter spices.
• Speak to The Mouth of Clarence in the same room, who will produce a special egg from their pocket.
• Head back to the kitchen and speak to Doughphie to obtain some particularly yeasty dough.
• Ask Glanton in the same room as the Easter Bunny for some raisins. A cutscene will play where the player and the hunters head out into the desert and yell insults at some grapes, which will consequently shrivel up in shame.

Once you have acquired all ingredients, use any of the components on the yeastier dough to make three uncooked easter buns, then use them on the range inside the kitchen. Warning: this will grant 1 Cooking experience per bun. Try out one of the buns yourself, and give another to Eggus Manus to receive his seal of approval. Then, give the third bun to the Easter Bunny to make him feel a little bit more special.

Once all three of these bunny-cheering activities has been completed, speak to Fry, who will suggest putting on a performance for the Easter Bunny. Talking to the Easter Bunny reveals that he needs just one more treat. The player will then automatically talk to Fry, who will assemble the troupe and begin the rehearsal. A cutscene plays of the troupe rehearsing the performance, which turns out to be a disaster.

Back on stage, search the old bookcase to the west to find a jumbled script and read it. Keep searching the wardrobe below the vanity until you find a carrot costume, which the player will comment on in the chatbox. Head back to Fry to tell him about the script and costume, then talk to him again and tell him you are finished with the script.

A cutscene will now play of the carrot-costumed ensemble performing a dance routine. Once the performance is over, talk to the Easter Bunny, who has been reinvigorated by the show. You can now head back to the Varrock west bank, and talk to the Easter Bunny to receive your rewards.

• When the player finds the entrance to the Rabbit Hole inside the bush, they will remark that the hole "doesn't look like a natural formation", meaning that someone must have dug it and it must lead somewhere. This is a reference to an infamous line spoken by Cortana in Halo: Combat Evolved.
• There are also references to Gilbert and Sullivan, especially The Pirates of Penzance, during the rehearsal.
• Glanton and Rinder are references to the characters John Joel Glanton and Judge Holden from the novel Blood Meridian. When Rinder says, "Perhaps more things in this world exist without yer knowledge than with it," it is likely a reference to the Cormac McCarthy quote, "Even in this world more things exist without our knowledge than with it."
• The initial performance cutscene before finding the script and costumes does not play any music.
• The final carrot performance has 144 possible versions, due to the jumbled script allowing the player to chose the order of the dialogue and dances.
• When the Easter Bunny says, "Easter Bunny... Now there's a name I haven't heard in a long time...", this is a reference to Star Wars Episode IV – A New Hope where Obi Wan Kenobi says, "Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time."
• Manus means "hand" or "of the hand" in Latin. This makes Eggus Manus a macaronic pun, roughly translating to "The Hand of the Egg".
  • Eggus manus in the 2024 Easter event appeared to reference Warhammer 40,000 lore in conversation^[1], indicating he may be a reference to Primarch Ferrus Manus.
• The inspect text for the Carrot Pin in the bowling alley reads "Bowling for carrot soup", which is likely a reference to the band Bowling For Soup.
• When the play is first being rehearsed the line "I do not know this. I do not know this one" is a reference to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
• There are multiple references to The Simpsons in this event:
  • The Mouth of Clarence says "You're you and I'm me" followed by "I'm me?". This is a reference to a conversation between James Woods and Jimbo Jones in the season 5 episode "Homer and Apu".
  • When checking the wardrobe backstage, your character says "check for.. eugh.. costumes", which is a reference to the Pretzel Wagon franchise video in the season 8 episode "The Twisted World of Marge Simpson".
• The post-quest dialogue with The mouth of Clarence^[2] and the examine of Clarence^[3] suggests the chicken is the Evil Chicken in disguise.
  • A chicken named "Clarence" was present at RuneFest 2025 and had an associated minigame involving finding eggs.
