Soul fragments are obtained as drops from Forgotten Souls during a game of Soul Wars. They can also be obtained by killing players who possess them. Players can give souls to team members with the use option.

The fragments are used on the Soul Obelisk to reduce the damage reduction percentage of the Avatar of Creation and Destruction. The team who controls the Soul Obelisk will have each soul fragment reduce the Avatar's damage reduction percentage by one, while the team that does not have control will find that sacrificing soul fragments at the Soul Obelisk will only be worth one-third of the contribution.

In the Soul Wars tutorial, players obtain one soul fragment as part of the demonstration. Attempting to pick up another from the ground will despawn the soul fragment from the ground, although players can cast Telekinetic Grab to obtain more.

If the player dies during the tutorial, the soul fragment is destroyed, and they must reclaim it from Nomad to continue progressing through the tutorial.
