Duke Sucellus Speed-Runner is a grandmaster combat achievement which requires the player to kill Duke Sucellus in less than 40 seconds, without being on a slayer task.
Strategy
The kill time for the Duke speed tasks starts as soon as Sucellus wakes up, which does not include the preparation phase.
In order to meet the requirements for this task, the player will need a strong slash weapon, ideally the Scythe of vitur, to take advantage of Sucellus' weakness to slash and the potential to hit harder than any other slash weapon. Make sure to cast Vengeance before the kill starts, then spellbook swap to the Arceuus spellbook and summon a melee thrall.
As Sucellus has a fairly high Defence level of 275, the player can hope for a high-hitting Bandos godsword special to lower his Defence to a more reasonable level. A surge potion allows for an additional burning claws special within the time frame; use it directly after the Bandos godsword special to let the burn deal damage over time. Sucellus' magic attack maxes 48 and his melee 56; so a good chunk of damage can be reflected back. Attack Duke, step back to tank an off prayer mage attack, cast another Vengeance, attack Sucellus, and get hit by his melee attack. As this has the potential to kill the player, pre-eating an anglerfish to 121 health can be beneficial. Resume combat with Sucellus as normal, heal up with brews and super combats or guthix rests, and veng another attack when it is off cooldown. At some point in the fight, launch a dragon claws or another burning claws special, if not in possession of the former. Additional damage can be rebounded with a ring of suffering (1 damage from the unavoidable ice shards, if they hit). Oathplate armour and a bellator ring can also help in improving slash accuracy, as Sucellus' high Defence means accuracy is much more important compared to other bosses.
Usually, due to the speedy nature of this achievement, it is recommended to attempt the grandmaster time; any missed attempts will usually count towards the elite and master variants of this achievement.
