The cat basket can be built in the cat basket space of the kitchen in a player-owned house. It requires 19 Construction to build and gives 58 experience when built. The player must have a hammer and a saw in their inventory to build it.

Cats and kittens belonging to anyone can rest on the basket. When exiting house via portal, the pet sleeping on the basket will come to the player. To place the pet on the cat basket, the player must pick it up and use it on the basket.

Cats must be picked up during building mode.
