Rennard was a thief who lived in the Second Age, and plays a role in the Curse of the Empty Lord miniquest. Rennard was one of the individuals indirectly responsible for bringing the Staff of Armadyl into the hands of the Mahjarrat Zamorak, thus allowing Zamorak to betray his lord Zaros. As a result of this, Rennard was cursed to live on forever as an invisible ghost, never able to pass on into the afterlife.

Rennard came across Valdez carrying a suspicious package and killed him, discovering he was carrying the staff of Armadyl. While in a drunken stupor, he contacted Kharrim, a Zamorakian messenger, to find a buyer for the staff. Kharrim's buyer was Zamorak, who purchased the staff of Armadyl from Rennard.

Using the ring of visibility, Rennard can be found in three different locations:

• The Bandit Camp bar in the desert
• Near the pirate ship in the Wilderness right next the Wilderness Agility Course
• Or in the Bandit Camp in level 20 Wilderness (4 Bandits will attack, but you can lure 2 into the general store and trap them with the door and 2 in the food store)
