Infernal Dimensions

The Infernal Dimensions, together known as Infernus, is the original home world of the demons. The realm seems to be ruled by demon lords, such as the Tsutsaroth demon Thammaron. The throne room of Thammaron, which is visited in the quests The Golem and Shadow of the Storm, is likely to be in the Infernal Dimensions. It is, however, not possible to exit beyond the throne room and explore the dimension any further.

The Infernal Dimensions contain ore not found elsewhere, and sustain the unique conditions required for advanced Smithing techniques. Avernic weaponry, such as the Avernic defender, was crafted by Avernic smiths in the liquid fires of Infernus. Additionally, Oathplate armour is forged with a metal made from an ore found only in Infernus. The bottom of the Chasm of Fire seems to experience similar conditions of that of Infernus, with infernal shale forming under the high pressure, capable of fueling the nearby furnace to the extreme temperatures required to melt down oathplate shards.

• The fact that the Infernal Dimensions are referred to in plural seems to indicate that Infernus is in fact a collection of smaller realms or pocket realms.
• The word infernus is a Latin adjective meaning "lower" and is often used in Latin to refer to the underworld.^[1]
• The demon butler, Alathazdrar, mentions being from Infernus. He also mentions a realm called Pandemonium^[2], as well as one called the Outer Darkness, which both may be part of the Infernal Dimensions.
• Bordanzan, the place from which the Arzinian Being of Bordanzan originates from, may also be one of the Infernal Dimensions, as the Arzinian Being is a demon.
• Thammaron's remains, which reside in his throne room in the Infernal Dimensions, are bones. This is in contrast to other demons who drop ashes upon death. The original developer of the quest later revealed that this was a design mistake, as he was not aware at the time that demons did not drop bones.^[3]
