Glory
The Glory interface viewed from the colosseum scoreboard.

Glory is an intangible reward obtained from the Fortis Colosseum. Players must complete Children of the Sun to gain access to the Colosseum and increase their Glory.

Every time the player completes a wave, they will earn Glory, in which the amount gained is dependent on the player's performance - damage taken, time spent, errors made, and types of handicaps selected. The player will retain Glory even if they die during a subsequent wave, but not if they teleport out.

The more Glory you have, the more permanent unlocks you have throughout all of Varlamore, where citizens may reward you based on how much has been earned. It is possible to achieve the title of Grand Champion without full completion of the Colosseum.

Glory is not attained cumulatively; instead, it works on a personal best system. For example, to unlock the bank chest inside the Colosseum, you must earn 2,000 points as your personal best of the whole run.

Earning Glory

The amount of Glory a player earns in the Colosseum is based on four contributing factors: Completion Bonus, No Damage Bonus, Modifier Points, and Time Bonus.

Earning Glory
Wave Completion Bonus[a 1] No Damage Bonus[a 2] Modifier Points[a 3] Minimal cumulative points[a 4]
1 100 100 200 200
2 200 200 450 600
3 300 300 700 1,200
4 400 400 950 2,000
5 500 500 1,150 3,000
6 600 600 1,350 4,200
7 700 700 1,600 5,600
8 800 800 1,800 7,250
9 900 900 2,000 9,150
10 1,000 1,000 2,200 11,300
11 1,100 1,100 2,400 13,700
12 1,200 1,200 2,600 16,350
Total: 7,800 7,800 17,400 16,350
  1. ^ The completion bonus is always given.
  2. ^ Only awarded when the player takes no damage from NPCs (not including environmental damage such as Solarflare or molten sand, self-inflicted damage such as divine potions, or the javelin launch from the Javelin Colossus).
  3. ^ The maximum possible points based on highest value handicaps. This calculation is based on taking 200-point handicaps (Doom, Frailty, Myopia, Relentless, Totemic) on waves 1, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Solar Flare (250 points) on waves 2, 3, 4, and Red Flag (250 points) on wave 7.
  4. ^ Assuming the player chooses the three handicaps worth 100 points and their higher tiers in the first seven waves, and any combination of the four handicaps worth 150 points or their higher tiers in the remaining five waves, and additionally completing none of the waves within 5 minutes while taking damage in every single wave, the cumulative minimum is the least amount of points a player can possibly have obtained after completing a given wave.
Time Bonus
Wave Starting Points Points lost per tick (0.6s)[b 1]
1 500 1
2 1,000 2
3 1,500 3
4 2,000 4
5 2,500 5
6 3,000 6
7 3,500 7
8 4,000 8
9 4,500 9
10 5,000 10
11 5,500 11
12 6,000 12
  1. ^ For example, if Wave 1 takes 30 seconds (50 ticks) the Player will receive a Time Bonus of 450 points. Note that it is impossible to receive an odd-numbered time bonus, and these will be rounded down to the next even number.

The theoretical maximum Glory would be 72,000 if all waves were completed on the first tick. Taking the fastest possible wave completions into account, the likely limit is somewhere between 60,000 - 65,000.

The minimum amount of Glory that one can theoretically complete the Colosseum with is 16,350.

Rewards

Rewards for increased Glory are unlocked at specific threshold amounts, and come with an associated title.

The minimal amount of Glory obtained after completing wave 12 is 16,350, meaning that completing wave 12 is not guaranteed to be enough to unlock every reward. Realistically, with more valuable handicaps and reasonable time bonuses, it is more likely that completing wave 7 or 8 would be sufficient to become a Grand Champion.

Title Glory required Reward
Brawler 2,000 Ability to use the bank chest inside the Colosseum lobby
Challenger 5,000 Ability to set Civitas illa Fortis as a respawn point

Champion 16,000 The herb patch west of Civitas illa Fortis will always be disease-free
