Diabolical aegis

The diabolical aegis was a scrapped two-handed melee weapon pitched as a reward from the Doom of Mokhaiotl. It would have required 70 Attack, 75 Strength, and 75 Defence to wield.

With an attack speed of 4, the aegis would have had both a 25% demonbane effect, as well as a 25% "demonward" effect, which would reduce damage taken from demons by 25%. It also would have a passive effect of resetting attack delay if used to finish off any demonic enemy. Additionally, it would have split its damage into two hitsplats like Torag's hammers and the dual macuahuitl.

The aegis had the following stats, as shown in the Varlamore: The Final Dawn Quest, Delve Boss & Slayer Dungeon Rewards update blog:

Item Attack bonuses Defence bonuses Other
Diabolical aegis +55 0 +95 0 0 +65 +65 +65 -10 +75 +75 0 0% 0

On 14 January 2025, the aegis's Attack requirement was lowered from 75 to 70.

On 28 January 2025, the aegis was clarified to have a 75 Defence requirement in the Varlamore: The Final Dawn Reward Proposal Updates blog, with its omission from the original update blog being an oversight.

Due to players feeling that the proposed rewards did not fit Old School RuneScape's first ever enrage boss, along with concerns over where the aegis would see use (as the only demons weak to crush were Cerberus, the Abyssal Sire, and potentially the Doom itself), and it overlapping with the then-recently released Emberlight, the diabolical aegis was scrapped on 5 February 2025, and would be replaced with a completely new reward.
