Chitin Penetrator is a hard combat achievement which requires the player to kill the Kalphite Queen while her defence was last lowered by the player.

This task can most reliably be completed by using a special attack from the bone dagger or crossbow, which are guaranteed to hit if used as the first attack on the Kalphite Queen. However, the following special attacks all drain defence upon a successful hit and can be used:

• Darklight
• Arclight
• Emberlight
• Bandos godsword
• Dragon warhammer
• Elder maul
• Barrelchest anchor
• Accursed sceptre
• Tonalztics of ralos

Additionally, successful attacks with the following also drain defence:

• Claws of guthix
• Any shadow spell with the Shadow ancient sceptre
• Curse or Vulnerability

If attacked by the Kalphite Queen, the following items both have a chance to drain defence levels, if Kalphite Queen still has more than half of her health, assuming they are charged:

• Black mask
• Any weapon while a Broodoo shield (poison) is equipped, and only if damaged by the Kalphite Queen
