Yaks are found on the island of Neitiznot, in a penned area just outside the town. A single penned yak can also be found on the island of Wyrmscraig.

Yaks are the only creature to drop yak-hide and hair, which can be crafted into yak-hide armour and rope respectively. You cannot use shears on a yak to get their hair.

• Upon attempting to use an item on a yak, the game message "The cow doesn't want that." appears in chat.
• Like cows, yaks are immune to poison and venom. This is due to a conflict with their 'Moo' timer interrupting poison and venom's timers.^[1]
• Yaks used to be very popular for training Combat skills, due to their very low Defence level compared to their Hitpoints. However, with the introduction of more monsters that function similarly to Rock Crabs (such as Sand Crabs and Ammonite Crab), yaks lost popularity in favour of those.
