The polishing wheel is found within the Giants' Foundry. It is one of three stations used to shape preforms during the minigame, along with the trip hammer and grindstone. The polishing wheel is never the first station to be used when starting a new sword.
In the progress bar, the polishing wheel is represented by the colour green; it is used when the temperature and progress gauges are in green regions on the Giants' Foundry GUI. Using a preform on the polishing wheel if either gauge is outside of that range will deal damage to the preform, reducing the quality of the sword. The preform's temperature will decrease after every increment of polishing wheel progress.
The polishing wheel is initially unusable, but is repaired during the quest Sleeping Giants using a hammer, 2 oak logs, 5 nails, and 1 wool.
The polishing wheel can additionally be used to repair the tarnished Belle's Folly, a weapon dropped by the Shellbane Gryphon, turning it into the usable Belle's Folly.
